Proof of concept for a web streaming sundial. Sun is straight south around 1:52pm EDT when daylight savings time is active. Surface is level, Gnome is set to my latitude at 42.1° N, pointed at the north star and parallel to the earths center of rotation. Since DST is active 8 months out of 12 I used that time to mark the hours as it most closely matches the local time for most of the year. I marked the dial on the Vernal Equinox when the sun is over the equator. A sundials time varys due to the earths orbit being oval and earths center of rotation being tilted which also causes the seasons. This relationship is expressed in the equation of time.

As the sun moves between the Summer and Winter Solstices the sundial will change from minutes slow to minutes fast.
